A turbine pump ("T" Pump) design requires close tolerances and consequently a strainer is needed to screen out dirt and debris from the pump head. A turbine pump is considered higher maintenance compared to a centrifugal pump. A standard centrifugal pump is durable, bronze fitted with wearing rings as standard and industry standard motors for easy repair/replacement. There are various models available: "D", "WV", "U", and "P". The single stage "D" pump is used for typical applications where the water temperature of the return condensate is 200°F or below. A single stage "P" pump is used with operating conditions of low NPSH and where the water temperature of the condensate is above 200°F. The multistage "WV" or "AW/AWF" pumps is used for operating conditions with high discharge pressure. The "U" pump is used for underground applications with a pit or where the pump is below floor level. |
