- American Boiler Manufacturers Association (ABMA) is a national association representing the manufacturers of commercial, industrial and utility steam generating and fuel burning equipment, as well as suppliers to the industry. The primary goal of ABMA is to promote the common business interests of the boiler manufacturing industry and to promote the safe, environmentally friendly use of the products and services of its members.
- The Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI) is a voluntary, nonprofit organization comprised of the manufacturers of air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating products. More than 90 percent of the air conditioning and refrigeration machinery and components manufactured in the United States is produced by members of ARI.

- Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) was created by U.S. electric utilities in 1973. EPRI is one of America's oldest and largest research consortia, with some 700 members and an annual budget of about $500 million.
